Even though these shoes date to 1857, I thought it would be fun to share pictures of originals rather than my own reproduction. This pair of shoes is located at the Sacramento Valley Museum in Williams, California, and has provenance as part of a wedding trousseau from a local woman. I helped with an exhibit redesign and had the opportunity to take pictures of many of the clothing items that were on display and those in storage.

Since you mentioned this museum husband & I were traveling from Hwy. 101 to Grayeagle,CA, and stoped in Williams. Sadly it is only opened 3 days a week. Over the years we have stayed and eaten in Williams and will stop again. As a gold rush emigrant descendent I have followed your posts on the SA, and am so interested in your accurate reproduction 1840s clothing. I now live in Bend, OR and porteay an 1852 emigrant on the Applegate in a section that was also the Nobles and Lassen trails.
